Personal Computer Introduction
General Course Information:
As courses can be customised to suit, consider
this as a general guide. Face-to-face courses are offered, but
not restricted to, the Sydney metropolitan area. Other requirements
will be considered on request.
Description: Covers
basic computer concepts and skills using pc desktop and laptop computers.
Students will receive a thorough introduction to the hardware and most commonly used software components of a
personal computer. In addition, they will learn Windows techniques and become
acquainted with basic applications.
Learning Outcomes - on completion participants
will be able to:
- Define and identify fundamental personal computing
concepts and terminology, such as hardware, software, and computer
networks
- Use input devices, including the keyboard
and the mouse
- Describe how the CPU and computer memory process
information
- Identify the purposes of storage devices,
and distinguish between types of storage devices
- Identify output
devices and describe their uses
- Apply document-management
concepts to create filing system
- Perform common Windows
techniques
- Determine the
type of software to use for a given task
Target Audience: Designed
for beginners and people wanting to gain confidence and build general skills using computers.
Prerequisites: For
people with little or no background knowledge or experience with
computers.
Methodology: A hands-on approach is taken
during this course. The exercises are designed to impart relevant
skills and knowledge and build confidence by having participants work through real-life
examples and scenarios.
